I couldn't think of a better way to start out my solo career than by paying my respect to the genres and artists that led me to this point in my life. All the bands on this record have had some sort of indirect impact on how I've developed as a person as well as a musician. For instance, some of the songs were chosen by fans, some by music pledgers and some were selected out of my own personal passion for the material. The one common thread among the choices are that they're all equally meaningful in terms of where I started as an artist and the career I'm ultimately striving to have. I mean, Blink-182, Sum 41 and Green Day have all been an unbelievable influence on the Pop/Rock/Punk scene that I've chosen to perform in. Social Distortion's lyrics have helped me mature as a song writer, and were an inspiration behind my debut LP. Bon Jovi, The All-American Rejects and Yellowcard are a tip of the cap to the pledgers and fans that have supported me through my bankruptcy and my struggling relationships. Lastly, the artists such as Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga and Katy Perry are a combination of guilty pleasures and fun Pop songs that are just too enjoyable to pass up.
Regardless of what anyone might think of one or more of these original artists, they are without a doubt the embodiment of success and at least deserve a little credit for being incredibly successful entertainers. And that's all I'm really shooting for. I'm not looking to raise the musical bar with these covers. I'm just looking to entertain and maybe take another realistic step forward career-wise.
